Mt Rainier 2000

'The 'Decent'

Heading down was easier since I drank some Gatorade but my knees were feeling it.  Nice slope and great view. I am leading my rope team down.  gives me less rope to worry about.  I keep getting pulled back if I go to fast.
Heading over the Ingraham Icefall, one of the most dangerous spots on the climb.  The snow is soft and could slide anytime.  We hear pieces falling all around us. Moving slow here is not good but we continually stop.  My neck is straining, looking around for falling objects.
A look back up the mountain from the Icefalls.  How did we get through that? Ingraham Flats is where many camp before ascending the mountain.  It is here that we left two of our group that could not make the climb.  They were glad to see us return.
